Rather than passively storing text, Synapse actively understands it - automatically embedding every note a user creates, then allowing them to \"talk\" to their own knowledge base through a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) chat interface. An agentic layer goes a step further, autonomously extracting actionable items from notes (such as reminders) without the user needing to manually tag or organize anything.\n\n- The project was deliberately scoped as a polyglot, cloud-native microservices system rather than a single-stack CRUD app. This was a conscious architectural choice: each service runs on the runtime best suited to its workload, not the runtime that's most convenient or familiar. Having gone through that hands-on setup made the operational cost clear firsthand (manifest maintenance, image size differences across Bun/Node/Spring Boot, DNS debugging time), which directly motivated the pivot to Cloud Run for the actual deployment.
